CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Sekayi Liburd, the 26 year national
hockey player who sizzled at the Inaugural Caribbean
Hockey Cup held in Trinidad and Tobago last month was
selected as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Liburd also contributed to the golden victory for the
Trinidad and Tobago National Women's Hockey Team. A
central defender, Liburd's love for hockey sparked off
at her alma mater, St Augustine Girls High School (SAGHS)
and was carefully nurtured at local hockey Club, Harvard
Checkers, of which she is still an active member. In
2004, she earned a scholarship to Hofstra University,
Long Island, New York where she pursued Geology and
Math. At Hofstra, Liburd expertly balanced books and
sport playing her way to the School Team's captaincy
graduating with the highest honour and securing a spot
at the most prestigious Honours Society in the USA Phi
Beta Kappa. Next month she will embark upon a new career
at Petrotrin in the field of Paleontology. Nevertheless,
amidst her new work obligations, she intends to find
time for hockey as she considers sport a vital
ingredient for a healthy, fit, balanced lifestyle!
